Who do you call first: PBCWUD or Wellington Water Utilities?

Royal Palm Beach has two water utilities, and the right first call depends on where your house sits. Per the Village, most addresses are served by Palm Beach County Water Utilities (PBCWUD). Addresses south of Southern Boulevard are served by Wellington Water Utilities, whose customer line is (561) 791-4010.

Here is the practical rule. If the water is off or brown on your whole street, call your utility. If one tap, one bathroom or the hot side is the issue, the fault is in your house and you can call us at any hour.

A quick guide to who handles what

Use this when you are standing at the meter and cannot tell whose problem it is.

What you seeLikely sideFirst call
No water on the whole street.Utility main or meter.Your water utility, then us for the house side.

Not sure which row fits? Describe it on the phone and we will say which side we think it is. Where the answer is a utility matter, we will tell you plainly instead of guessing.

How the Village roads shape a service call

Okeechobee Boulevard and Royal Palm Beach Boulevard are the main roads, and Southern Boulevard is the south corridor. Homes sit on side streets off those arterials, so a cross street helps us find you faster than a house number alone. Village Hall is at 1050 Royal Palm Beach Blvd and its number is (561) 790-5100 if you need to ask about a street or property question.

Businesses along Southern Boulevard have their own concerns, such as grease in restaurant lines and shared restrooms. Those are covered under commercial plumbing, and the same 24/7 line applies.

What to do at your Royal Palm Beach home before we get there

Find the main shutoff

Turn it clockwise at the house. If the valve is stuck or leaks, stop forcing it and tell us. A seized valve is common and we can bring a replacement.

Switch off wet circuits

Cut the breaker for any room with water near outlets or a ceiling light fixture holding water. Stay out of wet areas until the power is off.

Stop using drains

If a toilet or tub is backing up, do not flush or run the washer. Water has to go somewhere, and it will come out the lowest fixture.

Call and describe it

Tell us the room, the sound, and whether you have shut the main. For a burst pipe we want to know the pipe material, if you can see it.

ZIP 33421 is a PO-box code, not a neighborhood

Some online maps show 33421 as part of Royal Palm Beach. It is a PO-box ZIP with business delivery on Southern Boulevard and no residential population, so homes use 33411. If a form asks for your ZIP, 33411 is the one for your house.

Royal Palm Beach Commons and our coverage area

Royal Palm Beach Commons is a 19-acre lake park at 11600 Poinciana Blvd, and it is a handy landmark when you give directions. Say you are on the park side of the Village and we can place you quickly. We cover both sides of the water-utility line.

Neighbors toward Haverhill and out toward Loxahatchee are welcome to call too. Give us a cross street and we will confirm by phone whether we can reach you before we set a visit.

If you live closer to the show-season side of the county, our Wellington page covers that area.

Code and the permit question

Plumbing in Royal Palm Beach follows the Florida Building Code, Plumbing, which Florida builds on the International Plumbing Code (IPC), built on the IPC. Permits and inspections are handled by the building department that covers your address.

The Village Hall at (561) 790-5100 can point you to the right office. Utility questions go to the utility that serves your street.

Per the Village, most addresses are served by PBCWUD and addresses south of Southern Boulevard by Wellington Water Utilities at (561) 791-4010. Check your water bill for the utility name.

Water that surfaces before the meter is usually the utility's. A leak after the meter is yours. If the meter keeps turning with every fixture off, we can look into leak detection for you.

Common causes are a failing heating element, sediment in the tank or a tank that is too small for the household. See water heater repair and our replacement page for how we decide.

Yes. If every drain in the house is slow or a floor drain bubbles, the main line is the likely culprit. Our sewer line cleaning work covers that.

Confirm the license through the Florida DBPR Verify a Licensee search and the county's licensed contractor search, and ask for proof of insurance. Be wary of large upfront payments or oral-only agreements.
