Backed-up main line: when jetting is the emergency fix
If a sewer line has stopped or sewage is backing into a tub, you need help now. The same goes for a cable machine that got stuck at about 60 feet. Our line is answered around the clock, and we book same-day appointments when available. Stop using water, keep the washer off, and keep children and pets away from standing wastewater.
Hydro jetting is a cleaning method, not a repair. A nozzle on a hose sends water at very high pressure against the pipe wall, shreds grease and roots, and flushes it all out through the line. It reaches areas a cable only tunnels through.
Jetting or snaking: choosing the right tool
A cable machine fits when
- One fixture is blocked by a soft clog.
- The line is small, such as a sink or tub branch.
- It is a first-time stoppage.
- You want the lowest-cost fix and the cable pulls back clean.
Jetting fits when
- The clog returns every few weeks or months.
- The cable punches a hole but the line stays slow.
- Grease, scale or mineral build-up coats the whole pipe.
- Roots have filled a main and need to be cut and flushed.
Many callers ask for jetting by name. We listen to the symptoms and tell you honestly if a cable would be enough.
Sewer line stopped or backing up?
Call us. We pair jetting with a camera so we know the pipe will hold.
Grease, scale and roots: the three jobs jetting does best
Kitchen waste lines gather grease that hardens into a layer on the pipe wall. A cable breaks through the middle and leaves the layer. Jetting scrapes it back to bare pipe and carries it out.
Older cast iron lines build rough scale on the inside, and the roughness catches paper and debris. Jetting knocks the loose scale off, which restores most of the flow. Where the pipe is badly pitted, we say so before we jet.
Roots enter through joints and cracks and form a mat. A root-cutting nozzle shreds the mat, and the water flushes it. Roots grow back if the joint is open, so we pair this with a camera look at the joint and may suggest a sewer line repair if the pipe is damaged.
Restaurants, shops and rental buildings
Where jetting is part of a maintenance plan
Commercial kitchens and multi-unit buildings put steady grease and solids into shared lines. Many owners schedule jetting on a rhythm instead of waiting for a weekend backup. See commercial plumbing for how we work with business sites.
- Restaurant and takeout kitchen waste lines.
- Floor drains and trench drains in back-of-house areas.
- Shared main lines in duplexes, triplexes and small apartment buildings.
- Lines serving laundry rooms with heavy lint.
- Storm drains and yard drains packed with mud and debris.
Grease traps and interceptors are a separate cleaning job from jetting the line. We tell you which one is the cause.
How a jetting visit goes
Camera first
We feed a sewer inspection camera down the line to see what is in the pipe and what shape the pipe is in.
Pick the nozzle
A forward-facing head drills through a plug and a rear-facing head scours the walls. Root cutters are used when the camera shows roots.
Jet in passes
We work from the cleanout toward the street or tank, pulling debris out and controlling the water so the pipe is not overloaded.
Camera again
A second pass shows the result. We show you the clean pipe or any damage that jetting exposed.
What jetting cannot fix
Jetting will not repair a collapsed, offset, broken or severely bellied pipe. If the camera shows a collapse, water will pool on the low section and the line will keep clogging. In that case, we explain repair or replacement options.
Cost factors for hydro jetting
What insurance may and may not cover
Insurance usually treats maintenance cleaning as your expense. A sudden sewer backup might be covered only if you added sewer backup coverage. Policies differ, so check yours, call your insurer, and photograph any damage.
Call for your real number. We give a clear price before work starts.
Jetting and drain piping standards
The drain lines we jet were laid out under rules like the Florida Building Code, Plumbing, which Florida builds on the International Plumbing Code (IPC), which draws on the IPC. Jetting cleans a pipe but does not change its design.
If a camera shows a belly or a break that jetting cannot cure, repair work follows the same code and may need a permit. Ask the City of Greenacres building department.
Hydro jetting questions
Yes. Our line is answered around the clock. If sewage is backing up, stop water use and call. We book the earliest available appointment, same day when we can, and we inspect with a camera before and after.
It depends on the cause. A cable is enough for a soft, first-time clog. Jetting is better for grease, scale and root build-up and for lines that clog repeatedly.
On sound pipe, no. On cracked or badly corroded pipe, pressure can expose weak spots. That is why we run a camera first and tell you if jetting is risky.
Yes. Kitchen waste lines, floor drains and shared mains are common jobs. See commercial plumbing. Grease trap pumping is a separate service.
That can mean a dense clog, roots or a break. We look with a camera before we choose between jetting and repair.
It varies with the line. A home main that clogs every few months may benefit from a scheduled cleaning. A restaurant line may need a regular rhythm. We recommend based on what the camera shows.
Rarely for routine cleaning. A sudden backup may be covered depending on your policy. Check your policy and call your insurer.
